Where this paddle fits

Factory fit: Banger / Singles Power boundary. The CRBN 1X's 9.54-inch stock balance is 57.82% of its 16.50-inch length. This paddle sits near the boundary between DinkFlow target windows. Its primary tuning reference is Singles Power, based on the nearest target center. At 8.0 oz it is a balanced static weight that suits most recreational players, with a thinner core that transmits feedback faster on counters and put-aways.

Tape budget to each archetype

lowers stock balance (handle weight near the butt cap). raises stock balance (head weight at 12 o'clock). Distances assume the simplest single-position shift; real placements vary, and the DinkFlow Paddle Tuner simulates lead tape and counterweight changes against this exact spec.

The archetype methodology explains the percentage-based target lanes, why adjacent styles can overlap, and how to pick a target archetype based on your playing style.

First-hand review

The 1X is the lineup’s signature elongated power frame. In hand it feels noticeably stiffer than equivalent thermoformed paddles from JOOLA or Selkirk; that stiffness shows up as a faster, snappier put-away but costs feel on resets. The stock balance reads as head-heavy out of the box — most players who choose this paddle add 5–10 g of handle weight to bring it into a more drivable zone.

Best for

4.0+ doubles players whose chosen archetype is Banger or Singles Power and who want a paddle that hits hard from the upper hoop. Reset-first Control-Touch players will probably find it stiff; Firefight players should look elsewhere.

Suggested tuning notes

Butt cap 6g
Moves the stock 9.54 in balance toward the paddle-length-derived Singles Power lane without changing twist weight much.
Throat 4g
Gentler handle-side shift; preserves more head presence than butt-cap weight.
4 & 8 2g
Stability add for players who want to tighten the sweetspot before doing any balance work.

Verdict

A reference point in the elongated power category if you can handle the stiffness. The TruFoam Genesis line softens the feel without giving up much plow-through and may be a better all-around choice for players splitting time between drives and resets.
