DinkFlow Paddle Tuner

Tune your paddle without guessing.

Model tape placement, butt cap weight, handle length, and target balance before applying weight to a real paddle.

What the calculator does

The DinkFlow Paddle Tuner models the physics of lead tape placement before you apply weight to a real paddle. You select a paddle from the community database (170+ paddles with verified specs), choose tape positions and gram amounts, and the calculator predicts the resulting balance point, total mass, and swing-weight shift.

Six tape positions are supported: paired side positions (2 and 10, 3 and 9, 4 and 8 o'clock), throat, 12 o'clock (top edge), and butt cap. Each position shifts balance differently because the physics depends on distance from the current balance point: weight farther from the fulcrum has a larger lever arm and moves balance more per gram.

The core formula is g = M × (T − B) / (p − T), where M is paddle mass, B is current balance, T is target balance, and p is the placement position in inches from the butt cap. The tuner solves this for every combination you enter, so you can compare setups instantly.

Every setup can be saved as a shareable link that encodes the full state: paddle, placements, grams, and target archetype. These links can be shared, discussed, and opened directly in the interactive tuner.

The DinkFlow Archetype Framework

The tuner maps every setup to one of five DinkFlow balance-point archetypes, each defined by a target balance range in inches from the butt cap:

Firefight7.9 – 8.2 in
Control-Touch8.3 – 8.6 in
Flick Wizard8.5 – 8.9 in
Banger8.9 – 9.2 in
Singles Power9.2 – 9.5 in

Most paddles ship from the factory in the Singles Power or Banger range. Tuning adds handle weight to lower the balance into Control-Touch or Flick Wizard territory, or adds head weight to push it further toward power. The tuner shows the gram cost of each shift so you can decide whether the tradeoff is worth it before committing tape to your paddle.
